Martha M. Payne

Financial Planner

This is my why:

I became a wealth manager because I saw firsthand what an unexpected event and lack of planning can do to a family - my own. I grew up comfortably. My father was financially successful. He unexpectedly got sick in his fifties with a rare long-term neurological illness. Our family was faced with huge financial costs because he believed in ‘self-insuring’. He needed care for over eight years before he died, costing about half of his savings, and leaving my mother less well off than he would have liked. I share this story with you because it’s why I’m so passionate about what I do. I want to help individuals and families avoid the risks we face and pursue the rewards life has to offer so they can find the best path forward.

I began my career with Baystate Financial in 2003, a comprehensive financial planning and advisory firm.   When I decided to move my practice in 2016, I took the search seriously both because I knew the change would impact my clients and also because I only wanted to make a move once.  I feel so fortunate to have landed at IFP, an independent, process oriented, financial planning firm that has been focused on helping retirees and pre-retirees with planning since the mid '90s.

IFP’s sophisticated and holistic planning tools allow me to serve clients in ways not many other advisors can.  Using IFP’s proprietary planning system, I can tell clients how much money they need, where it should be invested and which assets to take first when heading into retirement which aims to provide clients a higher probability of a seeing successful outcome.
